The Final Ark is an episodic epic fantasy sequence with a postmodern thematic. It is updated at least twice weekly. Often, I will update many more Pages on a weekly basis, but I can only guarantee two.
The Bargain of Bones is the first “volume” in the Prince of Cinder Trilogy, the first “trilogy of trilogies” of The Final Ark’s global overarching story. The web-book tells the tale of a ‘dark lord’, Dantena van Torquaz, who hungers for vengeance after he finds the world’s most hated murderer whereabouts and listens to the inconvenient truths he has yet to reveal. Soon enough, a Holy War begins in this Post-Magical Realistic Medieval World. In his search for power, the dark lord Torquaz, who might be the world’s last hope, discovers an obscure Ancient Conspiracy, Shrouded in Myth, which is plotting a Lovecraftian apocalypse.
This book will be 900 WordPress pages and is set in Mid-World, in the Illiræn and Murenæn continents and its narrative spans approximately 1 year, beginning Summer 1477. More information on the lore here.
Every underlined text signifies access to a new page, and beware: I have hidden many Easter eggs (which incorporate full-length novels and pieces of classic literature). I would recommend starting the series with The Assassin of Kings Page that you can access here. You can also read all the prelude Pages, which include a fierce battle in the mud and a dark fantasy thriller in a urban setting, by starting reading the Every Ending Has A Beginning Page here.
Former chapters are being updated but are still accessible in the table of contents here.
Many violent scenes and my use of profanities, politically incorrect themes and dark humor might offend the religious audience. Considering the success of dystopia in young adult crowds and the Game of Thrones mania, I think younger audiences with a strong mind won’t mind the displayed deviance.
Here is a brief summary of the current narratives:
The book tells the tale of Dantena van Torquaz, who hungers for vengeance after he listens to the Kingslayer’s story. Soon enough, a Holy War begins in this Post-Magical Realistic Medieval World. In his search for power, this dark lord discovers an obscure Ancient Conspiracy, Shrouded in Myth, which is plotting the Final Apocalypse.
The Bargain of Bones is primarily focused on Dantena van Torquaz, an ambiguous inquisitor and postmodern fantasy villain (a lawful evil overlord, to use the D&D alignment system), who is denied command over the Corrupt Church of Eternal Fire’s Army of Armoured Warrior Monks with a fanatical devotion to the theo-magus. Maithaniel, the new theo-magus, was elected thanks to Dantena, who hope he would be appointed as Lord General, thus leading the Northern Kingdoms through a Great Crusade to reconquer his kingdom. Instead, he is left as inquisitor, and his dreams of Atonement are cast aside. Even if widely disgraced following the failure of his Hero’s Journey a Decade Ago, the Broken Ace Dantena van Torquaz, in desperate need of his estranged Big and Screwed up Family, now privately forswears any loyalty to the Church or any State.
Aide by a host of allies, including the greatest career hero of his time – Norman Daegoln, a narcissist with a silvertongue and dazzling speed at odds with his mischievous squire, Borothar the Blessed, his manoeuvering sister – Sixtina, whose scholar’s mantle hides a burning ambition; Concubine and Intrepid Jynn Isaltes, and a host of unwitting pawns – such as the unlucky and tragic Hero Avalan Den, Dantena begins a chess game of immense political importance. Taking revenge on those who wronged him, Torquaz also positions himself to grab more power than he had ever previously planned…
Another character, Ismair valenKel, the ancient hero and Jesus Christ of my world, has returned and has many answers for all the Factions at war, but who believes him? What paperwork does a propheciezed messiah has to fill before leading the armies of Men against the True Dark Overlord who was unseen for centuries? He is locked in a asylum for sorcerers… It couldn’t be worse time for a land which is soon to be engulfed in tyranny, civil war and invaders from across the Nightly Fog…
Enter the FINAL ARK journey, and thank you kindly, for without you, this wouldn’t be half as fun!
